The crochet community is full of incredibly generous people. I hear about donations being made to various organizations on a regular basis. In the past, I’ve participated in the Hat Not Hate event as well as the Crochet Cancer Challenge. I love the premise of these events and helping others. I thought it would be great to create several Round Ups of hat patterns that make great donations.

Here is the schedule for the Round Up Posts leading up to a new hat pattern release from Bliss This!

  • DK Weight Yarn Beanie Pattern Round Up: June 20
  • Worsted Weight Yarn Beanie Pattern Round Up: June 27
  • Bulky Weight Yarn Beanie Pattern Round Up: July 5
  • Bliss This New Bulky Beanie Pattern Release: July 11

This Round Up is for hats that use DK weight yarn and include crochet patterns and a few knit!

Garden Path Crochet Beanie

Designed by Ashley Moran of Wish Upon a Hook, the Garden Path Beanie is an ideal donation pattern. It is a quick work-up for being a DK weight beanie. The cozy puff stitch texture keeps you warm while also being a light weight beanie.

This is a paid pattern and available in Ravelry. Ashley describes the beanie as “squishy, cozy, and full of texture. Crocheted in DK weight yarn that uses diagonal puff stitches to resemble a garden path. Warm and light weight to keep your noggin happy through all the chilly seasons.” Use the code WUAHbliss for 30% off all hats in Ashley’s Ravelry shop through June 26th!

Cactus Baby Crochet Beanie

Designed by Raffaella Tassoni of Raffamusa Designs, the Cactus Baby Beanie is an ideal donation pattern. Hats for charity should fun and cute! The recipient will appreciate receiving an adorable hat!

This is a free and paid pattern. The crochet Cactus Beanie is a super fun pattern for babies and toddlers. The hat is worked flat from side to side and seamed at the end. You can find the free pattern in newborn to toddler sizes for free on Raffaella’s blog. There is even an adaptation to this pattern that includes adult sizes. Be sure to read through the post to find the link to the adaptation. What a great donation hat! Use the coupon code DONATEHATS for 30% off all hats in Raffaella’s Ravelry shop.

Flowers and Knots Crochet Turban

Designed by Bonnie O’Leary of Woodland Stitchcraft, the Flowers and Knots Turban makes a great donation pattern. The Flowers and Knots Turban is created to mimic a tied head wrap with a knot at the front but with this crochet version you won’t have to know how to tie the actual wrap! Just throw it on and go!

This is a paid pattern. A crochet twist on the turban look! Turbans have had many times in the fashion spotlight, most notably in the 1940s. Recently they have been making a comeback! Now you can enjoy this vintage fashion statement with unique crochet texture. This turban does not need to be tied as it is one solid hat with the knot and cinch of the fabric sewn into place. Use the code GIVEBACK for 30% off this pattern on Ravelry through June 26.

Winterberry Crochet Beanie

Designed by Helen Wilkinson of Sunflower Cottage Crochet, the Winterberry Beanie was designed for the Crochet Cancer Challenge in 2021. This hat is unisex and includes several sizes. This lightweight beanie has all the texture on the outside, so there will be no irritation to a sensitive head!

This is a paid pattern. The Winterberry uses bobble stitches to create a great texture around the beanie while the inside of the beanie remains soft and smooth. It works up quite quickly and uses less than 1 skein of DK yarn, so it is a great stash-buster, too! Use the code BERRIES for 50% off this hat and BERRIES1 for 50% off the matching scarf through June 26!

Vinnie Crochet Hat

Designed by Michelle Ferguson of Two Brothers Blankets, the Vinnie Hat is a great unisex hat that will make perfect donations. This is a very easy, beginner-friendly crochet hat pattern! You can use as many colors as you prefer.

Blooming Blossoms Crochet Ear Warmer

Designed by Christine Naugle of Sweet Potato 3, the Blooming Blossoms Ear Warmer is another great donation pattern. This ear warmer is tall enough to give the illusion of being a hat. The Blooming Blossoms is a nice light weight ear warmer. The tall design is ideal for chilly days that you may sport a bun or ponytail. The unique design created with the stitch combination makes it fun to crochet and give.
