DIY Valentine Gnomes make a cute and easy Valentine Craft for kids.

Valentine’s Day is coming up and if you’re looking for a cute Valentine craft to make with the kids look no further than these sock DIY Valentine Gnomes!

Seriously how adorable and soft are these DIY gnomes with their soft, plush beard and even softer socks?

You’ll be amazed to know that these sock gnomes require absolutely no sewing like our no-sew t-shirt softie (so little kids who can’t handle needle and thread) can help make these.

All you need is some hot glue, socks, and plush fabric. You can decorate your gnome even further for Valentine’s Day by adding felt hearts like we did.

What are gnomes?

These are mystical, creatures, diminutive in size with long wise beards. They are traditionally thought to bring good luck. So making one and gifting or keeping it in home may be a good thing!

Recently we’ve seen a plethora of gnome crafts and handmade gnomes so had to try our hands in making our own version!

What do I need to make a DIY Gnome?

We’ve seen some made with paper tubes, cones or containers, but ours require just socks!

You also will need stuffing, a wooden craft ball for the nose, plush fabric for the beard (often called “faux fur”) and a hot glue gun.

What kind of socks do I need to make a sock gnome?

You can use any sock of course but we think the soft and fuzzy sock types make our DIY gnomes extra lovable. However, we encourage you to try thin and different patterned socks on our gnome!

What’s great about this sock gnome tutorial is that you can really make it for any occasion or just make any gnome for everyday! If you omit the hearts and add other decorations like flowers, you got yourself a spring gnome. Add shamrocks and green socks and you have a St. Patrick’s Gnome!

Why not make an Easter gnome and add ears or make it pastel colors like Easter eggs.
