You're Invited!

USA Shooting invites you to an exclusive Junior Olympic Development Camp. Shotgun competitors between the ages of 12 and 20 have an incredible opportunity to hone their skills with instruction from current and former USA Shooting Olympians and National Team members.

The camps are held at Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center, a premier facility featuring International/Olympic bunker and skeet installations.

Each camp is limited to 50 students. You may register for one or both camps. For more information, contact [emailprotected].

2024 Trap Registration

July 14-19

  • The Junior Olympic Trap Championship (July 19-21) will be held immediately after Trap Camp. All camp attendees are eligible to compete in the championship.

$2,000 per student

2024 Skeet Registration

July 21-26

  • The Junior Olympic Skeet Championship (July 26-28 will be held immediately after Skeet Camp. All camp attendees are eligible to compete in the championship.

$2,000 per student

USA Shooting Women's Trap National Team MemberAeriel Alease Skinner

California native Aeriel Skinner joined the Halter Center staff to assist with range maintenance and instructing Junior Olympic Development Camps and other training events for both youth and adults. Immersed in the clay target sports of Sporting Clays, Trap, and Five-Stand in high school, Aeriel went on to compete in Trap and Skeet at the University of Arizona, where she earned a degree in psychology. She has represented the USA in 19 International events in 14 different countries, winning three individual medals and seven team medals. She continues to train at the Halter Center in support of her Olympic dream. Aeriel's awards include: 3 World Cup Gold Medals, 1 World Cup Silver Medal, 2 World Cup Bronze Medals, and 2019 World Cup Final Gold Medalist.

2018 ISSF World ChampionCaitlin Connor

Caitlin Connor Royer is a Louisiana native. Caitlin is an eleven-time International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup Silver Medalist, an eight-time medalist in the USA National Championships, 2015 National Champion, 2018 World Champion, and she has been a part of many prestigious teams and accumulated many outstanding awards throughout her shooting career. She honed her skills as a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Caitlin holds a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and two master’s degrees from DeVry University. She works as the assistant program development and competition manager at the Halter Center and an assistant coach for the Hillsdale College shotgun team.Caitlin's awards include: 4 World Cup Gold Medals, 11 World Cup Silver Medals, 1 World Cup Bronze Medal, 2015 World Championship Silver, 2018 World Championship Gold, and the 2022 World Cup Final Gold.

2023 West Palm Beach Spring Match ChampionLogan Lucas

Logan Lucas was born and raised in Pacific, Missouri. He has been shooting competitively since he was 15. He was recruited by the Shotgun Team of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) after graduating from Pacific High School in 2018. He joined the U.S. Army in January 2021 and shipped off to Fort Benning, Georgia, for One Station Unit Training (OSUT) to become an 11B (Infantryman). After graduating, Lucas reported to the USAMU at Fort Benning (Moore), Georgia. Since his assignment to the Shotgun team, he has established himself as a distinguished shooter. Logan's awards include: West Palm Beach Spring Match Champion, Bronze Olympic Trials Part 1, the Spandau Classic Gold, Bronze Medal 2021 USAS National Championships, Silver Medal 2020 Fall Trap PTO, Bronze Medal 2018 USAS National Championships

Alicia Gough is a competitive bunker trap shooter of over a decade who has represented Team USA several times in the United States and worldwide. She has had the privilege of combining her love of shooting and service by being a member of the US Army Marksmanship Unit for five years. Alicia is passionate about sharing what she has learned with others, especially the young shooters, with goals like the ones she established for herself as a child. A former collegiate athlete, service member, wife, and mom, she brings a different perspective to shooting that others can learn from.

Derrick grew up on a small farm in southeast Kansas and developed a love of the outdoors at an early age tagging along with his dad while quail and deer hunting. He started in sporting clays at age eight, joining his dad in a small league at a local club and began developing his skills as a competitive shooter.

USA Shooting Head Shotgun CoachJay Waldron

Waldron, previously a coach at the Hillsboro Trap & Skeet Club in Eugene, Oregon, competed in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, and earned a spot in the Finals after shooting a 195/200. Waldron was a two-time Junior World Clay Target Champion, earning those titles in back-to-back events in 1983 and 1985 respectively. Also in 1985, he won the Junior title at the Championship of the Americas. In 1991 and 1992, he was a contender in almost every match he was in, including gold and silver in two 1992 World Cups, as well as making Finals in three others. In 1991, he finished fifth in Trap and seventh in Double Trap at the World Championship while also winning the Pan American Games.

2022 Women’s National ChampionKatie Jacob

Katie Jacob started shooting in SCTP at 9 years old. After a few years of shooting NSCA and SCTP, she started shooting International Skeet and made my first team in 2015. Katie’s awards include: 2016 World Cup Bronze medal, 2017 Junior World Champion, 2019 Junior World Championship Silver, and 2022 Women’s National Champion.

2024 Olympic Team MemberWill Hinton

Will grew up in a family of avid bird hunters where his dad was a bird dog trainer in his spare time. He started shooting in 2007 recreationally and competed in his first sporting clays tournament in 2008. He shot FITASC and sporting clays for NSCA Team USA where he earned two junior world medals. He made a USA Shooting Junior Worlds team in 2013 and switched to shooting international style trap full time in 2016 after joining the Army. The Dacula, Georgia, native is a Soldier with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit and is one of the primary shotgun demonstration shooters. Will currently has six ISSF World Cup medals and most recently earned a gold medal and U.S. quota for Paris in Men’s Trap at the 2022 Championship of the Americas Games.

U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Glenn Eller

Opening Sporting Clay title. He began shooting at eight years old under the direction of Jay Herbert. He has also trained with Olympian Dan Carlisle. Glenn enjoys hunting, golf and was also involved in track in high school. Staff Sergeant Glenn Eller is currently a member of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Frank Thompson

With a little help from his dad, Frank got his start in shooting when he was 10 years old. Frank honed his skills through the sporting clays programs and made the National Development Team in 2006. He attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with a major in Business. Frank’s second cousin, Patty Durkin, is a three-time medalist (two gold and one bronze) in Paralympic Wheelchair Track, in Barcelona in 1992. In high school, Frank also played tennis and was on the wrestling team. In his free time, Frank enjoys hunting, fishing, motor sports and working on the family ranch in Nebraska.

Lance started shooting in 1987 at the Vancouver Trap Club. By 1996, he was an Olympic bronze medalist. Lance’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, tennis and public speaking.
